Thanks!! stealth. This is my first Allante. Sold it with approx 60,000 miles. I had the grille surround painted pearl white because it was cracked. Took off the grille crest and taillight "Cadillac" script to keep them guessing! I also had a last generation Z28 muffler installed after a duplicate cut out was done on the rear bumper. The auto dimming mirror with compass was from a 2005 Mazda B2300 truck! LOVED THIS CAR!!!

no problem ...

you got me .. I knew the car looked smother that what I am used to, but couldn't figure out why .. painted "grill surround" looks AWESOME .. i never thought of that.

On mine, the mirror fell off and I decided I dont need it. Its been off on three of my cars for the last 10 years .. I rarely drive backwards anyway. Auto Dim is nice .. the Lincoln MK VII have that, 1985 - 199X.

Because I deal with new cars and the latest electrical gadgets on them, an auto dimming mirror was a must do. As well as express down windows which were not available on an 88. Got the express modules out of a 92? Pontiac Grand Prix.

I never quite got that about GM.

I had auto-dim mirror in my '85 MK VII and I also had keyless entry (combination at door handle),
yet the $60,000 '92 Allante doesnt? it was really nice to go to the beach and toss ALL the keys
in the trunk .. didnt need anything to unlock the car except remembering the entry combination.

both MK VIIs also came with auto dim headlights .. nothing for the Allante? super gismo for
mountain driving at night. it worked well, and fast.

Both my MK VIIs came with EFI 5.0, headers, auto leveling suspension,
all the way to '88, GM was doing the 4.1 engines?

I tell you, that had to be a though time for GM .. glad management has turned the corner.

I'm looking for one with a faulty level ride system and it must be the model with analog gauges, articulated seats and fog lights.

You ride / drive one such car, life will never be the same.

I remember cruising MY '88 MK VII LSC, Black/Black, perforated leather recaros, moonroof, on a Nevada highway at 120 mph, having a quiet conversation, my kid sleeping in the back seat and having another MK VII pass me like I was standing still.
I wanted to step on it .. but .. there was the wife and my kid, and 120 mph was about the limit for a family cruise.

The level ride system always worked flawless. With the Marchal Fog lights on .. those cars were and are all class.
Definitaly, a great American car to won. MY '88 cost $43,000 + $6,200 for a 60,000 mile, 6 year bumper to bumper warranty .. I later added a 2nd unit, an '85 Silver LSC to the stables.

BTW, there was one MK VII in Denver, with a supercharger, listed on craigslist early this week.






Lincoln Mk VII

The most fundamental change in American luxury cars for many years, the Mark VII was an aerodynamic sedan with the remarkable feature of electronically controlled air suspension, developed in conjunction with Goodyear.

The system consists of four air springs, a compressor, three height sensors and a microprocessor, all working to maintain a constant ride height. The idea behind this revolutionary concept was to give ride quality equal to that of the bigger Lincolns of yesterday, but with far superior handling.

The Mark VII was also the first American car with flush-glazed headlamps, made legal just before the model went into production. Powered by the 5.0 HO Interceptor engine.






This is a 1991, but for the rims, one cant tell the difference.


Except for mine being charcoal color and the airbag steering wheel, this is identical to my '88, right down to
the perforated recaros and the phone.
Check out the EASY SEAT controls .. shaped like the seat .. nothing to figure out ..
whatever you do to the switch, the seats follow it. you want the set at higher, pull up on the switch,
you want to move it back - pull back, recline the switch - seat reclines .. I LOVED THAT ..

The Allante KP-recaro switches leave a lot to be desired .. ALL models.
