Default 91 leaking heater core

My 91 started leaking from the heater core yesterday. My question is are there any shortcuts, words of advice, cautions before I dive into this? I have the factory manual and am a good mechanic but before this 61 year old man with a weak back attemps this, I'm asking for any pointers. Thanks in advance

YES, FSM. I also verified thru ALLDATA this morning 3.8 hours. Same instructions to the letter thru ALLDATA as the FSM. Any tricks, helpful hints?

a couple .. as long as you are at it, replace that damn coolant hose between the engine and firewall.

1. pull the passenger seat out
2. get a camper's headlight
3. get an assistant to hand over tools
4. put a couple of small sofa pillows to rest the head
5. take an Advil for prevention of pain
6. protect your eyes

other than that that, i cant think of anything unique aside pulling stuff from under the dash.

.

It's a good thing you have the camping gear, at 3.8 hours you be able to take a nap before you put it back in and still get it done in time. Tell your other half it's an all day job and your going to a friends house to do it. Get it done in a couple hours and....enjoy the day....

better take some steak sandwiches along with the chips and dip and a Corona.
Siesta time !

maybe its time i repost the "how to change the oil for under $3,500" ?
at any case, Bill, it shouldnt be a hard job except for the being twisted like a pretzel, upside down.

BTW, I will also be under the dash soon. got to pull the ABS master off the 92. The ABS ac***ulator gave up its ghost and I cant get it off, so I will pull out the whole ABS master cyl so I can get the two damn little screws off. I easily get to them, but they wont budge .. I broke two "T" tips .. I am afraid of damaging the master unit and we all know what that costs.

hope its easier than the heater hose I just replaced this morning.
only about 3 inches long, 3/4 dia, just behind the oil filter ...
just below a dozen cables, harnesses, vacuum lines, and the intake system.
1988 Allante.

it had a slow leak .. until yesterday .. it BLEW a large hole.
