Default MOLDY SMELL?

I have a 2002 escalade, and I notice every time after it's been in the rain, the next day it seems to have a moldy smell?
Any ideas or has anyone else had this problem?
It eventually goes away but it sucks!

Any suggestions will help!

Thanks,

Very nasty stuff on your health as well as you car. After a rain try to finda place that your window or door weatherstripping has been letting water seep in. You should see water tracks or latent water droplets. Generally it's a split or crack in the rubber mouldings somewhere. Go over all the carpetted areas with your hand to pick up any sign of wetness. Good luck on that.

yeh, I can't find any water or wetness on the interior anywhere. It's hard to pinpoint where it's actually coming from.
That's why I was checking to see if anyone has had the same problem and found out where or what it actually was.
It doesn't happen when I wash the truck or a light rain. Only when it's really heavy.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Has cabin/hvac filter ever been changed? You may need to pull up carpet to find wetness. Water can run down under carpet, padding will be wet but carpet will be dry.

Most people dont know there is one, I would not be surprised if it the original one, so yes. It need to be changed once a year or every 15k miles.

see if you can pin-point from where the smell is strongest.....front, back, drv.side, pass.side.etc..... imo. check around the back area. water is weird, it can travel a ways and end up not even close to where it comes in... by the way it sounds, you have quit a leak, somewhere....keep the Forum posted as to your progress, please..... and welcome to the Forum. hope we can help
