2004 ESCALADE engine hesitation - no codes
My 2004 Escalade 6.0 Base model AWD occasionally hesitates for a split second while driving or idling. No check engine light or any other trouble indications.
Otherwise, it runs great. 123k original miles and gets 18mpg highway.
While idling or driving a steady speed, it's barely detectable, but while accelerating, it feels like a "bump" when it happens. When stopped, at idle (with my foot off the pedal), it will seem to almost die for a split second but recovers right away.
At first, I thought it might be gulping water in the gas now and then, but I've used Seafoam in the gas tank twice to disperse any water. I've also thought it might be getting air in the gas line somehow, but it's still happening after replacing the fuel pump with a new ACDelco pump, and it happens whether the tank is full or not.
In the last month, I have replaced the plugs & wires, the throttle position sensor/actuator on the throttle body (and thoroughly cleaned the throttle body while I had it off), and the fuel pump assembly for this problem. Still does it.
I read somewhere that my symptom could be caused by a failing Fuel Control Module (or FSCM).
Does my 2004 Escalade 6.0 base model have a Fuel Control Module, and where is it located? I looked for it under the car, even above the spare tire, but can't find one.
Any other ideas? Your input will be greatly appreciated!
