99 Eldorado ETC, how to bring up codes
Hello, all - first post to the Cadillac Forum for me. My wife's '99 Eldo ETC has an intermittent message on the DIC about 'Service Stability System' (may not be the exact words, but close). When reset, the ABS and Traction Control lights come on and stay on until the car is shut off. It may or may not repeat the message next restart. I have not been able to figure out if there is a trigger event. Sometimes backing out of the driveway the message comes up. Other times not at all, or just driving down the street. The systems are functional even if the lights are on, based on testing on snow last winter. TC and ABS worked OK. I would like to be able to bring up the codes in the DIC, what combination of buttons to push is needed? Anyone know this one? I've seenpost on the DTS and a few others, but the buttons called out did not match up with the Eldo. Thanks for any help.
Thanks for the tip. Worked just fine. Of course, the 'Service Stability System' messagecame on this morning when I took it over to the Interstate Battery store for a new battery; old one had been in the car for 42 months. Prevention, not cure is my motto. In that time period had to replace the alternator also, which took it's toll on the battery as it weakened and failed.Iwonder ifa weak battery affects this car's OBD the same way it does a C5 Corvette. I am also a C5 Corvette owner, accustomed to off the wall reasons for OBDII codes. It is kept on a tender to prevent low juice from causing it to throw codes, works well. I have a complete list of all the C5 codes and what they are for. Is there a comparable list on this forum in a sticky, perhaps? I searched several different wyays, no luck. The TCS codes I got were C1228, U1056, both H type, along with a few others, allhistory. We had to replace the Northstar 2 summers ago at 61K mile, internal head gasket leak. Kudos to the dealer for going to GM and getting a new one at no cost to me, since it was 6 weeks out of warranty at the time. Now at 81k, no hassles. I will be ineteresting to learn what all the history codes are. PCM 0603, IPC B1552, PZM B1552, 1558, 1983, MSM B2120 is the whole list.
Most of your codes relate to your battery dying. ABS code RR wheel speed sensor is like on it way out. Your lumbar switch may not be working quite right.
So the RR wheel sonsor is the culprit. Both of the TCS codes point to one sensor? And, the lumbar set up was serviced / replaced a four times during the warranty, which ran into 2005. They're pretty worthless anyway, after if faled the last time, we decided it was not worth fixing again. Appreciate the direction. Now I know what to fix. Thnaks agaiin, and if there is a list of what codes maen on this forum, I can't find, so your help is really valuable.
