Default Side Mirror Creep

My '99 Deville Concours passenger side mirror creeps inward (showing more of the side of the car).
After 2-3 days I have to reposition the mirror.

Does anyone have this problem? and a cure?

Yes it is true. The downward tilting reverse feature tends to throw the mirror out after a few days, all depends on how often you used reverse. I experience the same thing and every so often just adjust and reset it.

I have researched on some solution to your problem; hope this one would help…I have experienced the same problem with my Honda mirror for some time.-- I’ve learned from one of the study that a mirror wiper with washer for cleaning debris from a vehicle's side mirrors thereby maintaining an unobstructed view for the driver. The inventive device includes a motor attached to the rear of a mirror frame with the drive shaft extending through an aperture within the mirror glass, a wiper blade attached to the end of the drive shaft, a pump fluidly connected to a washer reservoir on the vehicle, a dispensing nozzle adjustably positioned upon the mirror frame and fluidly connected to the pump, a control unit electrically in communication with the pump and motor for allowing the user to manually control the operation while within the vehicle. The wiper blade includes a slip clutch which allows blade to be vertically aligned on each side of the mirror glass by engaging the opposing stopper members. The control unit preferably includes a pair of power switches and a pair of fluid switches for independently controlling the left and right sides of the mirrors. The dispensing nozzle is adjustably retained to the mirror frame by a clip member that allows repositioning of the dispensing nozzle depending upon the weather conditions to ensure adequate dispensing of the washer fluid.

I remember my old chevy's etc, we just stuck our arm out the window and adjusted the mirror. Now look where we are. We have creeping mirrors due to backing up. BTW the Lexus has the same feature and doesn't creep.

More importantly the Lexus gives you the ability to cancel the reverse tilt function, I don't know if the newer Caddy's do.

Creeping really sucks especially as with the car I have, the mirror assemblies are also mounted via a mounting bracket with threaded fasteners that extend through the apertures/pre-formed holes formed in the body. Due to bouncing or vibrations, the hole has a tendency to deform/expand and so the annoying creep. Well nutsas some believe can alleviate the creeping but not so sure about this.

And oh yeah, I for one sure do hope that the latest Caddys will also have this Lexus feature.

Yep, you can turn it off. I did it on my '04 Deville.

Yes, the owners manual tells you how to turn it off and mine is a '98 so for our thread starter Silverfox and his '99 Concours it can be turned off too. I just never got around to cancelling it, kind of an old man feature anyway, I'd rather see the side clearance to the cars next to me, I actually hate looking at the road and curb when reversing, I never rub my tires anyway, WTF......I'm going out right now and cancelling the darn reverse tilt!!!!

July will now be the month for everyone to cancel the reverse tilt function. Don't wait 'till it's too late, do it NOW.
