Deville 96 - Overheating Problems
I am really depressed as my Deville has a serious overheating problem ...
Recently, I had installed a New Radiator / New Water Pump / New Thermostat and things were OK for my short drives ...
Since then, I have noticed that on the freeway, the temperatuer can be around 192~196 and whenever I am downtown, things start boiling to 222~239 ...
Today, the worest nightmare happened when the temperature went all the way to 260 even on the freeway ... I turned the engine off and waited for almost 2-hours to cool down and filled it with coolant, then again after 10-minutes, the temperature starting going up until all of a sudden a huge steam splashed on the inside of the front windshield ... Ihad to pull over and waited for it to cool, then started filling it again, but this time, all thecoolant that I was adding was poring to the groundfrom the passenger side near the firewall ...
The car has been towed to my garage, but I don't know from where to start !!!
Appreciate your advice and help ... Thanks ...

RE: Deville 96 - Overheating Problems
Hopefully just a bad leak in the lines or equipment that run the Climate Control System. Were you able to obtain any error code information? Any report form your garage?

RE: Deville 96 - Overheating Problems
Oh, MAN! Don't attempt to drive it any more. Tow it to a competent garage and get it checked by professionals. I had similar symptoms with my temp guage on my 98 Deville but without the steam bursting forth. I thought that it was some simple thermostat problem, but it turned out to be a cracked block and the coolants were leaking into the engine rather than out onto the ground. Anyway, mine's repaired, now, to the tune of $8500.00. I couldn't find a short block, but at least I'm warranted for another 75,000 miles.
