Default Consumer Reports Says Avoid 2000-2003 DeVille?

I'm looking to buy a vehicle for working on the road in much the same way a salesman would, but I'm actually going to be political work which equals lots of driving. I'm a bigger guy and wanted something comfortable and the Cadillacs seem to be a logical option. But I also happen to be a subscriber to Consumer Reports magazine and their April 2007 issue lists the 2000-03 Devilles as something to avoid. I'm curious what you folks have to say about that rating? I've heard rumors of common transmission problems. And actually the one vehicle I'm leaning towards which is a 2000 with 111,000 miles has already had the transmission replaced about 4,000 miles ago. Thoughts?!?!

not sure they like any American cars.

people come to this site when they have car problems, look
in the Deville section and see what complaints come.

IMO, find one, get it inspected, change the coolant and drive the wheels off
for the next 200,000 miles.

I have 2,,,a 2001 Deville 120" limo and a 03 Deville sedan,,,I get 25 + miles on highway,,love them both. No major problems. Keep up on maint and you will be fine. I dont drive them hard but the power is there when needed!! Traded my Nissan Frontier for the 03 Deville,it gets better milage and a way better ride for comfort!
