Default check coolant level display

I kept getting the display "check coolant level", but the coolant levels were fine. The temperature gauge was right where it was supposed to be. Everything I have read said if everything checks ok it is probably the sensor in the coolant reservoir tank. I thought I would take a chance and get one from a salvage yard and it looks pretty good, but just as soon as I started the car, the "check coolant level" came back on. Now I'm not sure if it is the used tank from the salvage yard or something else. I paid $50.00 for the used one, and that was half the cost of a new one.

Any ideas??

Default Sensor

The coolant in the rad. might be fine but was there adequate coolant in the tank?? There has to be spare coolant in the tank so the rad can either dump or suction back in coolant as required.

The recovery tank is right where it is supposed to be. All levels are good. Maybe the switch can be tested, not sure about that.

Touch the two wires to the sensor together. If the light turns off, its the sensor in the tank.
