Default cd deck + '97 deville

I just bought an Alpine CD deck and went to Best Buy today to have it installed. After three hours of sitting in the body shop for what should've been a half hour installation, I was told that the only to have the deck installed and working properly would be to run individual wires to each speaker in the car (and to pay upwards of $1,000 for a custom installation). I was told that apparently the '97-'99 Devilles are wired strangely which makes it impossible to do a normal installation of a CD deck.
I was just wondering if anyone had any success with installing a CD deck into a 1997-1999 Deville or has heard of this problem. I'm hoping that there is a way to do it without spending absurd sums of money on a custom installation! Any help would be greatly appreciated

You likely have Bose with external amp. Unfortunately you have a Cadillac not a Chevy, so there will be a little more involved. The price they quoted seems a little 'strong' (high) though, I suggest to call around for a better price.

you do need to run each speaker to your new deck. you can also try to buy the harness and install it like a regular car. i have a friend that has a 97 deville did what i told you and it worked still working till now! have any questions i can tell you how to bypass your amps!!

you do NOT have to run new wire if you have the basic factory stereo. I have a panasonic deck in my 99 deville and it work perfectly. also I have never heard factory speakers with an aftermarket deck sound this good.lol the only time you need to run all new wire is for a vehicle that is preamped. which is the upper line of bose. call your local dealers parts guy and have him run your last 8 digits of your vin, and can tell you what you got.
