Default Buying Used Cadillac Deville 2002 or newer looking for feedback

My husband and I are thinking about buying a used Cadillac Deville. 2002 or newer depending on the price and mileage. We're hearing that these engines have oil leak problems. Wondering if anyone has any feeback about this? or do these cars have any other problems that you know of?

Thanks

The cadillacs that have the Northstar engine have a oil consumtion issue and always have. This just means that they tend to burn a lil more oil than most engines but not enough to affect the performace of the car. you would have to add some oil about every thousand miles or so. Its not really a big deal ive been doing it on mine and it also give you an opprotunity to check for anything else that may be a problem.

The other problem that sometimes happens is the main seal leak and that would require the engine to be removed in oreder to be replaced very expensive. That is not as common and if that is the case though most owners just add oil accordingly.

The Northstar engine is a very good engine but most pple dont do the routine maintenance required on most of their cars. That is usually the case with anybdy having engine problems. There are members on here i know of that have had very little issures with their cadys so if you do decide to buy a deville i think you will be very satisfied with it.

Default 02 or newer Deville is a bargain

Hi,
00-06 Devilles are a bargain now. They are percieved as gas hogs. And since they were very expensive new many people assume they are very expensive used.
I get over 27 mpg highway at 75 mph in my 04. I had no issues with my 00 DeVille. I had 140k on the clock when I sold it 6 months ago. No leaks of any kind. Oil use at the end was about a quart every 3k. I did routine oil changes. Antifreeze change every 50k and trans fluid and filter every 60k.
I bought an 04 with all options except nav and sun roof for $11,200. It had 32k miles and was in perfect condition. A bargain. No oil use at all. Same money gets you a 03 honda with 90k on it. Or a ex rental 07 Malibu. What would you rather drive? Caddilac devilles are a great deal. My father lives in West Palm Beach just bought a 06 DTS loaded with 22k for 20k. The dealer had 4 of them. A little preventitive care and these cars will give great service. Look around you will find one that suits your needs.

Sorry I get long winded some times.
