Having problems with my 88 Deville, Engine started running hot and then shut off, smells like oil burning but no trace of leak, Was told that it might be Gasket trouble. Can anyony lead me down the right path or at least point me in a semi correct direction

 

A hot running engine points to cooling system. Items to check are coolant level and condition and water pump.
