Default Aftermarket CD Player

A couple of months ago I bought an Alpine CDA-9885 from Best Buy whose install guy claimed to know what he was doing with my 98. No Presets will save, and the alarm will go off on me every once in a while. Is this doing any damage to my car? Thanks Again

shouldnt do any damage but tuning the station every time you start your car can get pretty annoying after a while...i would go back and have them install it correctly

Tell them to hook up a constant power source. Alot of times they will connect a couple of wires together to test them and simply forget about them. Explain your prob. and they can easily fix it. As far as the car, i don't think its hurting anything.

thats why i do all my owne work on my cars, sounds like they left the constant 12 volt disconnected and hooked both your radio's power lines into the keyed 12 volt, take it back and tell em sumthins worng, and then after u get it back just check it to make sure, i dont trust em

Well, my 2 cents....When I installed my aftermarket NAVI, I had the same problem. I then discovered that for some reason, after 30 minutes, the constant power shuts off. I asked a GM tech about it, and he says that it is a battery saving mode? Well, I tapped into the Traction control's constant power source, and since then I have had no problems.

im having the same problem, everything works but no presets save. my guy @ cartoys tapped into the cigarette lighter and figured that would hold some constant power- nothing. if the car goes into a battery saving mode is tapping into the traction control the only answer? how easy isthat to do?

Guys it sounds like your cars are going into "sleep mode". You need to buy gmos-03 harness or re-connect the data wires to the factory radio and relocate it in the trunk, with power of course.

Check this place out for more info.
