97 DeVille hard to start when warm

I have a 1997 DeVille, 130k miles. Runs great, pleanty of power. Starts fine when cold, cranks forever when warm. Will eventually start, but I mean it cranks for a while. 20 to 30 seconds if I let it go that long. Any suggestions. No codes. Also I used to have a full list of codes (about 23 pages long) that I got in a link from someone here last year. If anyone has that link I would appreciate it, I need to download and print them again.

Thanks,

Allen

Hi Allen, it could be a multitude of things but I would bet on the fuel pressure regulator. Remove the engine beauty cover and you will find it, top - right side. Round thing held by a funny clip and has two lines attached. Pull off the vacuum line and see if any gas comes out of the valve, even slight weepage indicates a bad valve so look close. Hold the vac line near the connection point & see if you can suck gas out. My guess is your going to find a small leak.

Good Luck

Kmec thanks, that was it. It was leaking, replaced it (75 bucks) plugs too (it needed them) now paked it after a short drive and waiting 30 min to see if it starts. Im sure that was it so thanks again. Hope I can return the favor someday.

The information about the car starting problem is great. I have a question, How do you replace the fuel pressure regulator with out leaking gas? Thank in advance.
