'96 DeVille A/C NO WORKEEE!!!
The AC in my '96 Sedan DeVille has just totally stopped blowing air.
In the past few weeks, it has taken spells of not coming on at all for a short period of time and then it will come on and work fine for a few hours, minutes or days.
FOR THE PAST THREE DAYS, IT HAS NOT BLOWN ANY AIR AT ALL.
The compressor engages and the line on the cold side is ice cold. When I am in the car I can hear the unit under the dash doing its thing......the doors and stuff positioning themselves to direct the air or whatever the heck they are doing...............
I have replaced the inline pressure sensor and the A/C relay located in the fuse terminal box under the hood.
I unplugged the wire from the blower motor and checked for voltage on the end that plugs into the blower motor and HAVE power there.
Having done these things and considering the fact this all came about over a period of time and not instantly, I am inclined to believe I have a bad blower motor.
Does anyone know of something else that would cause this problem?
Another sensor or switch or relay????????
Is there a way to put 12 volts to the blower motor to check it out without destroying something else?
There are three wires going into it and I have no clue about what is what............
Also, how much trouble is it to replace the blower motor? It is close to the engine and I don't know if it will pull straight out without removing something else.
All input is appreciated.

It's the blower motor. If you have power and ground to the motor and it does not run, you have found the problem.
The new motor should come with a heat shield that will help it live much longer.
As for R&R of the motor, its a little tricky. The coil packs and wires need to be removed from the rear valve cover.
Then i remove the front subframe bolts from the engine cradle. Use a floor jack lower the subframe once the bolts are removed.
This tilts the engine down and forward away from the firewall. It is still a tight squeeze to get the motor out, it almost like a puzzle to turn it in the right spot, then it will slide up and out.

Thanks for the info.........
I went as far as I could without a computerized checkup.
I can usually figure out the older stuff, but everything nowadays is a computer on wheels.......
Yeah, I noticed the original heat shield is coming apart.... mis-made mother, huh? That's what probably killed it in the first place.
The car only has 87,000 miles on it.
Thanks again,
Charlie
