Question 90 deville exhaust problem

I have a question about my exaust on my 90 deville. There is the exaust pipe then there is a rubber hose that comes off the motor and hooks into a piece of pipe that comes off the side of my cat coverter. Where the rubber hose and pipe come together is totally broke on mine the rubber hose is just hanging. Is this hose putting out back pressure my engine needs? is this why my gas mileage is 11 miles to the gallon with a full tune up? and why my idle is rough untill i get up to speed? Any Information is appreciated. Thanks

Pipe is for AIR system, AIR pump is to pump air to cat conv. to cool the catylist - to make converter longer.

Does this majorly effect my engine? I assume that what is throwing the E49 A.I.R. control problem? how could i fix it ? it has a big round cylinder looking piece on the end of the pipe coming from the cat where it connects to the hose that goes up to the back of the motor. Can i just cut the end of it off and slide a rubber hose over it with a clamp?

Heat from exhaust will burn thru regular rubber hose, there is a special heat resistant hose outer there for patching. You may be able to buy pipe & check valve, little clamp is special and normally can be re-used. Correcting it may correct E49.

If it is just to cool cat can i just plug the hole to correct the exhaust leak? or do i absolutely need this on my car? If it is possible to just plug it what do i do with the other end? The hose that goes to the motor.

Should this majorly effect my car?

Does this majorly effect the serp? I assume in which what's hurling the actual E49 Any. My spouse and i. Third. manage difficulty? precisely how might we repair it? it has a major rounded canister hunting bit within the end in the water pipe coming from the feline in which this joins for the hose in which goes up for the again in the powerplant. Can i only reduce the final than it off of in addition to go a new plastic hose in excess of this that has a clamp?
