'00 Deville Oil Use

I have an '00 DHS that uses a bit of oil. Called the dealer awhile ago and he stated it's normal to use a quart every 1000 miles. Sounded crazy, but heard this from a couple of other guys, too. I'm nearing 100k and it seems to be getting worse. Don't see blue smoke, not leaking, etc. Anyone else having the same problem? It runs great, no knocking, pinging, nothing. Wonder if an oil additive might help. Any ideas. Thanks.

RE: '00 Deville Oil Use

My OO DHS uses a quart every thousand or so. It doesn't leak, blow smoke, or foul plugs. Oil is cheap. I just check it every third fillup or so. My Caddy mechanic (specialist but not a dealer) says it's normal. Something about the ring design. I would not worry about it as oil is cheap and easy to put in. It certainly isn't worth doing any engine work over.

Check recent threads regarding tranny shifting problems, including my response . A complete flush and additive smoothed mine out very nicely. Your car may need the same.
