Default "09 CTS Key Fob reprogramming help?

Howdy All. This is my 2nd post here. I did do a search and couldn't find it, so here I go. When I bought the car, the dealer told me that the previous owner had one fob, the #1 printed one. Having a #2 version is not a big deal for me (that seat/steering wheel memory thing). I checked w/ the local dealer. They want just under $300 for a 2nd fob and $100 to program it and the current fob. Way too much arm and leg for me.

I found a replacement for it at remotesremotes.com for about $69.95 w/ free shipping. I don't mind doing the programming for it.

Should I be able to reprogram the current and new fobs w/ new codes, so I can have peace of mind - just in case someone has the 2nd fob out there and sees my parked car somewhere and gets ideas?

Thank you very much in advance... ~Johnny

Thanks for the reply. While I was waiting to hear back on this forum, I ended up finding a different replacement fob for $31 shipped. I found the programming instructions in the owner's manual. And in about 30 seconds or so, I programmed the new fob to be the 2nd place one. I learned that doing this negated any other fob out there that used to be #2. I checked w/ batteries plus; they wanted $40 to program it. Glad I did it myself. ;-)
