Default "Service steering system"

In my '03 CTS I'm getting the message "Service steering system" on the operator screen (Navigation screen in my case)
I've done an OBD scan and I'm not seeing any error codes, although I'm not totally confident in the scan tool in conjunction with the OBD system in the CTS.

Anyone seen this? What parameter is this system seeing out of spec that would cause this message?

Thanks a bunch!

I think I found the answer... more than likely the "Variable Effort Steering (VES) Solenoid"

A tech note is available here => http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/tsb/index.php?category=4

more likely the hand wheel speed sensor located on the steering column. This device measures steering wheel movement. It is a circular looking sensor which the steering column shaft goes through it. You will need to have a Tech 2 or some other type of scanner to check this one out.
