1990 Allante Window Problems

My drivers side window has been working on again off again for a while. Now it's seems to have stopped working all together. I think it may be a bad motor but I'm not certain. I'm basing this on the fact that when it worked it either worked in both directions or not at all. I took the door off and I have access to the window switch and the express module. My question is can I test the motor by jumping terminals on the express module and or window switch? Also is there a way to check the express module?

It sounds to me as if you do not have access to a service manual? If you do, it should provide the diagnosis/testing procedures.

you got several possibilities including the belt that physically moves the glass
often its the switch, but as you said it can also be the module or even a connection.
the motor you can pull and easily test with a 12v supply

It was a bad motor. Thanks for the input.

Make sure the window can move smoothly, something sticking could have worn out the original motor prematurely and you don't want the same thing to happen to your new motor.

if it was the original motor, i say it gave pretty good service .. 22 years?
i have never had to change one on any of my Allantes
