1992 deville 4.9 liter
Hi,
I have problems when the tank registers 4 gallons or less while making turns. There is a loss of power until the car levels off. Could it be the fuel pump is going bad? Also, if you know, what brand is the best replacement pump? This is a fuel problem, not a brake problem as the category shows. Jamberi |
The problem will evolves around sender assembly. GM revised the sender, it is a somewhat pricey fix.(No, it was never a recall) I dealt with condition as " I need to get gas SOON" never fixed it, I used the cutting out as a get gas or "Hope I brought my walking shoes"

Is the fuel sending unit a part of the pump, or is it a separate item on the rail? My book says nothing about a fuel sending unit.

It is the part the pump mounts to. You have to drop tank to access it. If you choose to replace it, replace pump and strainer...since you are there.

Thank you slowroll
Heh:
Thanks a lot for the info. I bought a new pump and strainer. I will do the repair next weekend. Again, thanks. Jamberi |
My '93 D-Evil did the same thing, and would also cut out if on an incline, anytime it got down to around 4-3 gallons. New pump/strainer, and the hoses that connect it all fixed the issue on that one.;)
