Default Trans Interchange

I have 2000 DTS with 192K, the trans just went out. I am looking to get a used one, but I cant understand why I cant get a trans off a 2002-2003. It just seems to me that in 2000 they built some crappy transmissions, with the overdrive, solenids, torque converter issues. What is the difference in the year models? Or can it be done?

There are also different gear ratios...at least three that I know of. Also, in 2001 the electrics changed on them. Instead of the MLPS(neutral switch) being bolted to the trans on the outside, it went inside. It's best to have the one you have rebuilt/repaired, in the long run. Buying a used one is a crap-shoot. Might get the correct ratio...might not. And you never know what it is you're buying. You may wind up with something that is in worse condition than the one you started with.....

Thanks, yeah i may just go with the rebuilt. I actually found a place online called Boss Transmissions that provides rebuilts for 1520.00 including shipping and a 2 year/36k warranty with it.
