Default Replacing Shift Solenoids

I have a 96 SLS 106k miles -- it no longer shifts into 4th gear. all other gears are fine. I was told a possible shift solenoid problem. Is it possible to see and replace the shift solenoids just by dropping the pan? or will I have to remove the valve body etc? If anyone has a how to on this especially with pics please direct me to it. Thanks
