92 deville transmission problems..

I have a 92 deville with 76k.. I am smelling a real sweet smell coming from engine... car starts fine but when i put in drive and proceed to go i have to push the pedal almost to the floor to get it to get to 2nd gear ... the engine revs... pedal to the floor once it hits 20-24 mph it works fine.. reverse works perfect ... mechanic showed me how to manually shift from D1 to 2-3 but shouldnt have to do that any advice would be greatly appreciated thankx

Needs a trans rebuild. The more you drive it like that, the worse it will get, and the more it will cost to repair.
The sweet smell is antifreeze....you likely have a leak, and if you smell it from inside the car, it is probably the heater core leaking.

WHAT VEHICLE???

Brakes adjusted too tight?

Tell the "shop" that did the tune-up that the car drove in, it should drive out. They need to repair what they screwed-up.
