2001 Seville SLS Trans or electrical?
Hello Everyone! First time post... been lurking and enjoying the forum for a while! I have a 2001 Seville SLS with 82,000 miles on it. It's our second Seville and we got it in October 2010 after my wife totalled our 99 STS when she bagged her first six point buck! Had a few issues with the 99. Until recently the only issue I had with the 01 was the coolant expansion tank had a leak and was replaced. The issue is random and I'm confused. Occassionally after the car idles for a long time (like in a busy drive through) when it goes to shift into 3rd the Service Engine Light comes on and it won't shift beyond 2nd. Pulled the codes and the only PCM code was P1845 (2-3 shift solenoid circuit low voltage). Cleared the codes and everything was AOK for like 2 months. It has done the same thing 3 times in the past 4 weeks. I have checked all the connections and do not see any evident problems with wiring harnesses. Am I looking for an electrical issue or is it time to replace the 2-3 solenoid? Thanks in advance gnkj1!

I would replace the solenoid. Probably getting hot and shutting off. Then puts your trans in limp in mode. Second gear only to get you to a shop. We get those in our shop all the time. Lucky for you, those solenoids are in the bottom pan and not the side cover. Good luck!
