Alright, I changed the fluid and filter about 1500 miles ago. Now the fluid smells like burnt brake pads and is darkish red. It feels like its slipping badly between shifts as well. The scary thing though, is I think 2nd or 3rd gear is gone. Like when its in that gear, it feels like its in neutral, except it doesnt rev as freely and when going up a hill it has a nasty shuddery vibration.

Any ideas?

 

Hey bud! when was it changed prior to that? Sometimes its better to leave old tranny fluid, then to change it after 20 years. The actual sludge plays a part in the operation of the old "original" tranny fluid. Of course, thats just my opinion, i could be wrong.
