Default Is this a worry?

I've gone on two 25mi runs with my new engine. I checked the parameters after todays run and the coolant temp was 168dg F. Todays temp while on the run was 75dg and the run was mostly at highway speed. The fans run at start-up and I have an F41 code.I've always had this code when the AC was engaged, but I've not bothered to get the AC system back up/running yet.Prior to the engine change thetelltale would light up at idle and would go off once 40mph was reached. The previous owner said itacted the same wayall the timethey had the car. I changed the module last summer, butno difference. Checked all the connections/grounds previously during the module change. 168dgF seems too cool at 75dgF ambient....? Any ideas would be helpful, thanks. Other than thisoddness, engine isfine.

I did suspect the stat might be stuck Open, so I changed it to a Stant super-stat. The recommendedunit is 195dg, so that's what I installed. The old stat was an 'economy' stat andalso 195dg. I 'wonder' about how accurate the Parameters are.....the heater was blasting hot air when I changed the temp to 90dg.Thanks

There were some concerns with the early coolant temp sensors and the connectors. What does Coolant temp read in obd data P04?

76C which is 168F. The sensor and wiring connector are the OE parts Mr.DeVille installed in 1987. Wouldn't hurt myfinances to change the sensor...

I changed the sensor and went on a 110mrun. No difference in parameter readings,SO I may be the problem. I decided I wanted a regular water-temp gauge when I install the new engine. Only place I could see to tap the system was at the coolant sensor. I installed a 'T' and installed the gauge-probe in one of the T taps and the sensor in the other. My thinking was that the coolant is under pressure so the T-fitting would be the correct place. Apparently I wasn't 'right'! (amazing) I think what must be happening is the sensor probe isn't in a direct(enough)coolant stream and therefore isn't getting enough flow past the probe. The water gauge isn't acting right either. I'llremove all my hard work and reinstall the coolant senser where Mr. DeVille had it. I still want the water-temp gauge, so....any ideas where I can tap the system? Maybe the hose out of the T-stat housing? Thanks.

oh no .. you didnt!
not a good idea .. the sensor needs full FLOW.

I dont know why you even need to add that extra probe. What is it that you do with the car?

The probe is for the coolant temp gauge.

I'll put the sensor back to its original configuration and install a T-fitting in the hose past the t-stat for my new gauge.I also will try and find the correct wire to tap for the gauges, both coolant and oil pressure, illumination. Car was perfect on this long run andmy next job isto get the AC up/running.
