Default Vacuum pump bracket

My '84 Sedan DeVille's HT4100 keeps breaking the bracket that mounts the vacuum pump to the left head. Is there a fix besides welding the whole mess back together? Today's repair will involve a couple of gussets to try to prevent this from happening again, but in case it breaks again, I was wondering ifCadillac ever updated the design. I have seen a TSB about the bracket coming loose from the head (it has happened to me twice). Has anyone else experienced breakage? What was your fix?

Default RE: Vacuum pump bracket

Hey Devil: Could this possible be related to bad motor mounts, not sure in this case just guessing.

Default RE: Vacuum pump bracket

I got it figgered out yesterday. The p/s pump had come loose from the block and was pulling on the bracket, which, as it turns out, was mounted to the pump behind the pulley, as well as to the head. Luckily, I had a spare vacuum pump bracket. The gas mileage has already improved with the vacuum pump now properly mounted, and the car smokes less from the tailpipes as well. I can't help but wonder how long it's been like that, since I put on a new water pump in May 2003, and didn't noticeany loose p/s pumpthen.
