RE: N*
Well i have several.
The one in the wifes car was $8000 but it came with wheels and seats.
The one on the engine stand was $100 but there was a good bit of labor/trading going on.
I did a swap for a friend and a 60k mile motor was $900 IIRC but no blower.
New from GM is somewhere around $3500 complete.

I am really impressed with the wife's.
We have over 100k and never been into the motor or trans other than rocker arm upgrades and a shift kit.
We raced it 2 years at gainesville. Mostly test and tune but my wife ran a couple bracket races with it.
It's gotta have somewhere near 100 WOT runs to 100mph.
Very tough to get traction below 20 mph. 2.93 final gear and it gets 30mpg on the road and 24 around town.
My friends went 150k before it lost a rod bearing.
The tranny was still kickin at 200k when he sold it.

There is a fellow who owns a speed & custom business here who has a N* very similar to the supercharged one shown in a 1964 jet black Impala SS except it is a turbo with 500 HP. They use it everyday. Have a look, the link buttons are on the top of the page.

impressive reconstruction
http://www.conceptsonwheels.com/proj..._Impala_SS.php
unbelievable what rust and time can do, and folks like these come along and make
all that go away.
for folks like these, the choice of drive train is probably the easiest job.
21th century technology wrapped with a '64 shell.
awesome results ....

What would be the benefit be of turbo charging a N* as opposed to getting a brand new crate motor already built?
