Default arching at spark plug

I have a 98 STS with a Northstar. About a year ago a mechanic replaced the wires. Recently i've had a problem with rough idle and stalling. Another shop checked it out and said the spark was not getting to one of the cylinders, therefore not firing and it needed new wires. They said because they were not OEM wires that was the problem. Sounded wrong. Could there be something else to look for? I would have thought bag plug, but that seemed to obvious and something they would have looked at first.

Thank you
