Default Replacing Head Gasket 94 Seville STS

Just recently purchased my 94 Seville and drove it up to last week when i was told the head gasket was bearing down on it's last days. My buddy and i towed it out to his place to start the restoration project on her. Was told replacing a head gasket could take 22 hours. I was also told the best way to get to the area is drop the motor out from the car. Can anyone give me some tips??

22 hrs is the flat rate time for an experienced tech who has done repair at least once before. It does not include time to "Time-sert" if necessary. It is best to drop powertrain out the bottom if you can. Engine will come out the top if you have to do it that way. Only Tip is take you time and get factory service manual.

you would be looking at about 28hr total thats with timeserting. Thats what my bill said when i took it to the gm dealer. also they say it would be wise to buy a new thermostat housing. Gm has changed the design of the housing to make it better.(Thats what they told me.) Some northstars had a plastic housing that cracked easily and the new design is an aluminum housing. Its up to you on that but mine was crudy inside so i just got a new one wich cost $48. im sure you can get it at an autoparts store cheaper. Good luck and hope t hear how your progress is.
