Default planning on buying a 97-99. anything I should be aware of?

I'm just a kid, and a Caddy n00b for that matter, but I'm very interested in purchasing a 1997, 98, or 99 Deville, and I have for a very long time. I really don't know too much about anything related except for these headgasket problems I see lots of places.

Could anyone tell me what I should be aware of if buying a Deville like this?

Talk to the wisest person you know, hopefully they deal with a independent shop who can look over the car(s) that you choose and advise you of it's condition and what may need attention. After car is inspected you can post the good, the bad, and the price. I'm sure you will get an opinion of its worthiness.

Just as in life, don't fall in love too quickly. With any used car the old adage, "Marry in haste, repent in leisure," applies. Have the car inspected very carefully before you purchase it. Pass on anything that isn't in perfect condition. Consider getting an extended warranty/service contract.
