76 Eldo transmission linkage.

The transmission linkage on my 76 Eldorado is very sloppy and loose.
Does anyone know how to make the linkage "tight" again? The mechanic has installed new grommets but it didn't do very much.
Does anyone have any ideas?

It's hard to say with out actually seeing what is happening. You may need to have it looked at by a transmission shop. There are several bushings that are part of linkage. The metal rods may have worn if bushing had been worn out for a long time.

Thanks, Slowroll,
The transmission was recently rebuilt. I guess I should take it back there.
My main concern was to find out if there was a rebuild kit or even a rebuilt linkage set available.

I would have been nice if all the bushing came in a kit. They where all individual part numbers at least in the old days.

Thanks again, Slowroll.
