2004 DTS Catalytic Converter

I was told I have a bad catalytic converter and I need to pass inspection soon. Does anyone know the exact part number for this model cadillac? 2004 DTS Hi Output. The dealer doesn't sell the converter alone. The dealer only sells the entire exhaust system for more than $800. I am not paying that much when I can fix it myself wit a little welding. I found this one at rockauto.com

I was hoping to find it a little cheaper. I am thinking of hitting a junk yard up. Any suggestions guys?

i used dropshipparts.com to get a replacement cat for my 99 sts. works perfect. be sure to get the "long" cat as that will keep car quiet yet not lose any performance.

do you have an independent muffler shop in your area? not talkin midas, or monro. some smaller guy. i called in my area, price is between $300. to $350.00 max installed. still seems a little high...... maybe cause its a caddy.....lol anyway, there ya go

I ended cutting my own cat out and got a local guy to weld it for me. The part was from magnaflow and I got it for about $90, the guy welded it for $50. My service engine light was out before I could get home and I passed inspection. :D

Screw the dealer or they will screw you. Thats my new rule of thumb.
