Any serious Cadillac expert here?

Hi everybody,

I've just discovered this forum and already like it. We're in final phase of '51 Series 62 Sedan and wonder if there were wire wheels offered as original accessory. I spent a lot of time looking for this piece of information all over the web, without any success though. Is there someone to tell? This must be the best place for this question I believe.

Greetings from Slovakia.

hard to believe but I was having the same problem yesterday :-) could not have found a single picture of our '51. the problem is that currently I live abroad. but I found this picture in my e-mail box, it's our '33 which is undergoing a massive repair work (sort of incomplete restoration).

I would say no, they would be considered old fashion. The post war cars wanted to be viewed as modern and steel wheels and fancy wheel covers set the stage. Sports cars would be the exception, which there very few built in the US. Kelsey-Hayes did make a true wire wheel as an option in the towards the end of 70's, but it was rare. Wire hub caps were far more popular.
