Shocks suggestion for 62 Coupe
Hey there... newbie here. As far as Cadi's anyway.
So I had this 62 CDV follow me home on a vacation last year (shipped). I hadn't much time to dedicate to it, but trying to now. It's a nice driver as is, and could use a few details (like any), but as is.... is really cool driver.
My immediate concern is the shocks as they are worn. My immediate goal is to get the best ride for the money. I'm sure I could put $30 shocks on and might be ok, but if I should spend $60 per, and get a much better ride and handling, I won't hesitate to do it. I am just not looking to put a bunch of money in the suspension and take it a specific direction. I am not sure how long it will be in my driveway as I just want to get it mechanically right, enjoy it for a bit.
Details.
Far as I can tell, suspension is original. Suspension rubber/components are a bit worn from age.. but drives, tracks stops really well.
When I purchased, previous owner installed a Chevrolet 406 with vortec aluminum heads, custom exhaust, Backed by Turbo 400. Runs, drives and pulls really well and strong for a big sled.
Boss Wheels
Performance Tires:
Front: 275/35/18
Rear: 235/55/18
Just looking for budget minded recommendations to improve the ride. Doesn't need to be super 'pillowy', looking for the blend of nice ride and good handling.
Will try to add a few pics on my computer.
Thanks to all for suggestions and insights.
