New to site
Good day,
I am new to the site and looking trough I am not sure how to ask the community a question. I hope this works. I have an 87 allante for 23 +/- years and hardley ever use it. I have about 73 K miles on it. The problem I am having is that when I slow to a light or I am in trafic the Engine Control Fault indicator comes on. When I shut the car off and restart it the indicator clears. So my two questions are 1] What can this be ? 2] where is the connector to plug in the code reader in. Thank you in advance for your help. I hope I can offer someone else help in the future. ABS |
Car doesn't require scanner use OBD for codes. See FAQ section for info. Stealth is the Allante' fan of this site. Post code Good Luck and welcome. Factory service manual very handy

Good Day, the code was E046. I am now going to have dig in, I don't really use the car so I want to put some fresh gas in and put some miles on it. Thank you for your help. I will keep you posted.

What I suggest: buy (from an auto parts store) some LUCAS FUEL TREATMENT. Put it into a near-empty fuel tank. Fill the tank. Drive the tank on the highway until it's low on fuel. For instance, if your usual highway range is 360 miles, drive 180 miles on the highway one way, then turn around and return. Then put gas back in.
This will "kill two birds with one stone". Not only do you clean the fuel system, you also get to drive with TS |
you should also look for vacuum leak(s).

Thank you for the suggestion and advice, now I just have find the time to get out on the highway and look for some adventure.
Thanks again. |
