Intro / Spare Tire

Greetings fellow Caddy owners and enthusiast. A long time driver of the best Automobile built, in the Great U.S. of A., I've just joined 'Cadillac Forum,' and look forward to reading all the threads. Also, I already have a question for all of you. Last year, I purchased a new CTS. With gas predicted to soon hit $4.00 per gallon, I decided on the 2.0T Sport. While CMD did a great job in cranking smooth performance (once it warms up) out of this little 2.0 litre four banger, while maintaining a fuel sipping, combined MPD, of ~28mpg; my performance bug returned and I had to make some mods by adding a twin turbo conversion, in L.A., which upped the Dyno Torque to near 390lb/ft, making this a rare 2.0Tt V-Sport! It's the perfect power curve, very smooth; and with the auto Start/Stop, it still gets me around at ~27mpg average city/Highway.

Anyway, this past week, I decided it was time to give my Smokey (yes, I name my cars) a full detail. When I lifted the trunk floor cover and was horrified when I saw there was no spare! Where you would usually find a spare tire, there is only a tray, I guess a place to put tools. WHO'S BRILLIANT IDEA WAS IT TO PRODUCE A CAR WITH NO SPARE!!!! While hardly a fortune, as today's cars go, I guess they think anyone who can drive a $60,000 car, doesn't change there own tire. Still, what are you suppose to do if you have a major blowout? Have the damned car trucked to a tire dealership, in hopes one is open!

Hi, PXMFit. We definitely understand your concerns regarding the spare tire in your CTS. Some GM models do not contain a spare tire. Instead, they may contain a Tire Inflator Kit that you can use in a flat tire situation. The Tire Inflator Kit was designed as a high-tech solution for a service similar to a temporary spare tire. It will allow you to inflate your tire safely and easily before driving to get it serviced. However, if you would like us to confirm that your CTS came with this package or if it was supposed to come with a spare tire, please email us your VIN at socialmedia@gm.com. Reply: CTS No Spare

Cara,Thank you. My CTS has neither a kit or a spare. Not even a jack! I may be a=n old Baby Boomer, but this whole idea of a "High Tech" solution is no help in the case of a blowout. I wonder if these young designers thought of that.
Anywho, I appreciate your assistance.2017 CTS VIN: 1G6AR5SX8H0129488
Kindest Regards,

PS This was a Demo, not a new purchase.

I'm new to Cadillacs myself (<1 month) and from what I gather we don't have spare tires because we have "run flat" tires instead. But I could be wrong. I am very slightly concerned about this myself but as long as I stay out of "middle of nowhere" Montana I am confident that replacement tires should be somewhat easy to obtain in the event I will need to purchase one.
