Default 98 Deville Newbie

Hello all

I just purchased a 98 Deville4.6 Northstarwith 112,000 on it. Body is in great shape just a couple of minor door dings. The suspension is shot. I have placed an order for a set of the ArnottiShocks for the rearand a new compressor. Should have them installed in a few days. For the front i found 99 at the junkyardwith only 42,000 miles so i grabbed them both for 80.00 When i installed the font shocks i also replaced the stabilizer links and ball joints. Going in for alignment today.

The motor seems to be in great shapewitha minor oil leak After being parked overnight 12 hours there seems to be 5 or 6 drops of oil. I put it on stands climbed under it with a flashlight and it seems that i need the oil pan gasket replaced I see no signs of oil above the pan. However that pan looks to be a real pain to change. I don't have a manual yet. So if you have any idea how big of a project that will be please let me know.

The only instrument panel message i am gettingis to service the steering system. So i checked fluid level it isokand thepump sounds fine so i will have to further explore that.

I need to flush the cooling system i have read here on the forum the proper procedure. I have to find the tabs my local parts store does not have them. My engine temp is running between 200 & 225 on a warm sunny upper 80 degree day in florida. Is that Good or bad?

PS I have been here reading for several days this is a great resource and i would like to thank all the people that contribute to this great site!!

ex....welcome to the Forum!..... good luck in getting the Deville as you want it..... you'll love her then big time!..... i'd see if you can slightly snug the oil pan gasket nuts....... just a little!.... that might take care of the seepage. do not over tighten!!!
i had same situation with 99 sts, and that took care of it......some how they loosen a bit, and need a snug......check it out- get back to us....good luck
