What is the carriage?

Hi All,
I have an opportunity to pick up a low miles 1998 deville concourse. Dealer says the carriage in the back needs to be replaced. He claims this is an easy/cheap job and the parts can be had at a junkyard. What can I expect? What is the carriage. It is located at the rear of the vehicle under the trunk to the best of my knowledge.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Bob

anyone tell me about the carrage top (roof) on the 2003 seville sls. Was this a factory item. Don't seem to be able to find anything about it. Was it included in a option package? Help.
