Need help identifying wires please
Hi, I'm new here.
I don't own a cadillac at the moment but I want to use an MPG/ trip computer out of one for a custom install. My local junkyard has several cars with the same display on the left of the steering column for miles per gallon. They are 1988- 1990 devilles andone 89' fleetwood. The fleetwood already had the dash apart so I checked out the harness going to the readout, it has 9 wires going to it. I was hoping someone on here might have a repair manual that has some diagram that could help ID the wires. If it has an injector signal input and one for the VSS I can use it. I'm also not sure if the display can be used by itself this way or if there is more to it (like a brain somewhere else).
Thanks
jim

I thought you guys might get a kick out of the car I want to use this in . http://www.gassavers.org/garage/view/272
I'm in need of instant mpg feedback for my metro, it's pre obd2 so the scangauge I have for my truck won't work and I'm too cheap to buy the superMID. That's why I'm interested in the cadillac set-up.
Thanks again

I love fast cars, but more and more i want to conserve. Good for you.
My favorite part:
I had to laugh at that.
I'll see if i can dig out the old manuals tomorrow. No promises, most of those old books are worn out or missing, but i would like to help.

My favorite part:
Reduced weight due to strategic rust holes.

RE: Need help identifying wires please
I got ahold of a repair manual over the weekend and found the wiring info I needed. It doesn't look like it will work the way I need it. It relys on the BCM for a single data input. I don't want to try making that work I guess.
thanks for the help
