How hard is it to change head gaskets on a 98

Hello,

We have a 98 cadillac concours and are head gaskets are bad. My husband does alot of the car work himself and he has taken other engines out of cars. So I was just wondering how hard is it to change the head gaskets?

Thanks

the job is not so diificult, but it is time consumming.

do make sure he has the torque wrenches and proper tools
as damaging anything in the disassembly is not conducive to a
succesfull reassembly.

parts - gaskets and headbolts are relativily cheap.
if it was me, i trow in a new water pump, thermostat and whatever other
low cost parts come out in the process.

lastly, help him avoid this again. print the FAQ on headgaskets and the FAQ on DEX-COOL and
hand it to him. if you have other cars, do yourself a favor and implement the recommendations on
coolant changes on all your cars. if the recomendations are right, you will save lots of money and grief,
if not, you will waste a couple of $20 bills. cheap insurance.
