I have a service manual for 2005 CTS and the description for changing the water pump on a 3.6 engine seems pretty straight forward. Drain coolant, remove drive belt, remove pulley, remove water pump. You might want to loosen the pulley bolts before taking the belt off, otherwise you may have a hard time keeping the pulley from rotating while trying to loosen the bolts. Installation is reverse of removal. They do specify using a NEW water pump seal. Let us know how it turns out. Mike.
