factory radio won't come on
I had an aftermarket radio installed in my Seville. Unfortunately someone broke in my car and stole it. Instead of buying a new aftermarket radio I decided to put back the factory radio, but the radio doesn't come on even though the buttons are lit meaning power is getting to the radio. Is the radio broke, is it a code, or do I have to do something to get the radio to power on.

Are the original factory connectors still in place or were they cut out for a/m radio? If unaltered, does radio light up, if so what is on display?

all connectors are in tact. Nothing was cut. Buttons are lit, but no display

There is usually two power sources for the stereo, one which is hot at all times and one which is hot in accessory/run. Do you have both hooked up?? Radio fuse and LTR fuse both good??

RE: factory radio won't come on
Both fuses are fine. And plugged in correctly

I would chance to guess, that when the aftermarket was put in, a connection or 2 were different then the factory, and had to be changed.
So now that you've put factory back..... Maybe one of the connectors is off ?? Is also possible that the unit you have now is no good. I remember replacing a unit in a 93 with the exact match factory. It worked for a week then would work when ever it wanted to. Is possible its just cause its old. |
