Electrical smoke coming out of vents

Was driving my 2000 eldorado this morning. Had the temp set to 72 and the blower set to auto. All of a sudden, electrical smoke starts shooting out of the face level vents. I quickly shut off the climate control. When I tried to turn the system back on in a few minutes, the blower motor was inop. The blower motor has had a mind of its own in the past few weeks seeming to do what it wants when it wants, and I had the rear defrost on at the time. Any and all ideas would be gretly appreciated. Thank you.

Smoke

Can you rule out rodents??The little buggers stripped the foam insulation off my A/C hoses and used it for nesting material. They could have got to your wiring.Shy of that, the motor might have seized up and causing electrical over load. It's funny that the fuse didn't blow first, but maybe it did now, so check that out then see if the motor actually turn over.
