Elderado Slaming gears

93 Elderado Touring w/ Northstar. The gears slam when placing in Drive, reverse or back to park. After unplugging computer and reconnecting, the gears will change smoothly for about a half mile then back to changing harshly. Only code that comes up is the iat (intake air temp sensor). Would that have anything to do with it?

Sorry if I wasn't clear. When it is sitting still running, it slams when you go from park to drive or reverse, or back to park. I tried unplugging and then reconnecting computer and afterwards, it will change smoothly but after driving for about a 1/2 mile or so and then it starts changing harshly again as it changes from low to drive. That's what makes me think it is a computer or sensor problem.

The fluid level is fine

I checked the level while car was warmed up running in park and the level shows full.

at what rpm is your engine when it slams into gear???? norm should be between 7, and 7500 rpms.... if its higher then you will get the slaming.
is this making sense to you?
