Crankshaft Position Sensor

Hey everyone, my 97 Cadillac Deville, is shutting off, while driving. The oil light comes on and the car shuts off very smoothly (no jerking or knocking). I have researched this problem, and I am convinced that it is the Crankshaft Position Sensor. My question is, does anyone have an estimate on how much it will cost for the sensor and the labor to install it, at a Cadillac Dealership or GM garage.

Thanks!!!

RE: Crankshaft Position Sensor

I would confirm this by going into the On Board Diagnostics by pressing the Off and Warmers buttons on the climate conrol to see if there are any stored trouble codes. With the engine off and the ignition in the on postion, hold those 2 buttons for about 4 seconds. The codes will display in the information center. Write them down. If the Crankshaft Sensor is defective, there would most definintely be a trouble code strored. You can see what the codes are by going to the following Website: http://myweb.accessus.net/~090/dtcobd2.html#gmd

The Crankshaft Sensor Codes are between P0335 and P0339.

Feel free to right back with any questions.
