Climate Control Buttons - 1988 Brougham

Hello. I am having a problem with the Climate Control buttons for my 1988 Cadillac Brougham. Most of the time, the temp buttons, defroster buttons and low/hi buttons do not work or engage when pressed. Occasionally upon pressing will it engage and air comes out. Does anyone know what I should check out to make it work properly? Thanks!

This was occurring on my Eldo and was fixed by replacing the control head itself.

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me what the "control head" is? Is it the component where all the buttons are on?
