AC issue

Good afternoon, I am having an issue with my 2014 Cadillac SRX's a/c. Sometimes the a/c will come on and sometimes it does not. The compressor is running and the a/c line is cold. I have added free-on to the car to no avail. I have also checked the fuse box and the a/c fuse is good to. If there's is anything else I am missing to do please help. I live in miami and it gets hot!!

You might have the pressures checked on the low and high side as a start to troubleshooting. This would be a start to checking the health of the system and determine if a leak is present or not. You can buy a gauge set at most auto parts stores specific for this task. If that is not a choice of yours then a repair shop or Cadillac dealer can check (for a cost I'm sure). The advantage of a shop helping is that their equipment can evacuate the system and pull a vacuum. It should hold about 15hg vacuum for about 20 minutes without loosing vacuum. This would show a tight system with no leaks. There are other methods the shops can use including dye injected into the system to show leaks under a special light that will fluoresce at the leak site. But if you want to DIY, a set of gauges will be a good start.
