'96 Seville traction control problem

Hi Guys,

I own a '96 (mostly) Seville. I have a problem with the traction control. Every time I start the engine I get a message "Stability Reduced" and the "Traction Control" lights stays on. When I stop the engine and start it again a few times it finally disappears. I reset all the codes in the OBD and tried again. When looking at the OBD codes after that, the only two codes left are C1210 and C1243. I looked those up but couldn't find the C1210 anywhere. The C1243 says: BPMV Pump Motor stalled. This seems to make sense, but now two questons, what does C1210 mean and where do I find the BPMV Pump Moter and can it be replaced or does it need something more ? Another thing I don't understand if it's a problem with tne BPMV is why the ABS warning light is not on too ?

I have been looking for a Service Manual for the '96 Seville, but I have only been able to get hold of the '95 manual, which is exactly when they changed a lot of stuff ( 95 -> 96).

Greetings,

Leif

RE: '96 Seville traction control problem

Hi again,

I have noticed that if I'm holding on a steep slope (sideways) it's almost impossible to get it working. The other day I did that and even after 15 attempts I had no luck. Then I moved the car to a horisontal surface and tried again. Only after 3 attempts the traction control light stayed off. I was wondering if it could be some low fluid level, but what fluid. I don't get any other messages than the above (well, change oil, but there is still a few % oil life left).

Any ideas anyone, please ?

Leif
